Plans are well on the way for the forthcoming Auckland Conference.
The conference will take place on the Unitec Campus about 10 kms from Auckland City.

The conference will run over three days starting with a powhiri on the Friday afternoon. Click the image on the right to download a poster in pdf form.

Conference highlights so far:

1.Bus tours the details yet to be confirmed
Proposed Friday afternoon city tour and visit to some of the major exhibitions running in conjunction with the conference. Monday bus trip North of Auckland through coastal towns and to some exceptional sculpture walks.

2.Exhibitions
Twelve galleries have responded saying they would like to hold exhibitions at the time of the conference. There are some very exciting proposals. The Wallace ceramic collection will be shown in a newly renovated historic catholic school this will be one of the must sees.
The National exhibition will be held at an amazing venue. Right in the middle of Auckland City at the Aotea centre.

3.Publications -A book launch at the Gus Fisher Gallery. An initiative from Auckland Studio Potters to celebrate their  50th anniversary. (a collection of contemporary essays)
Depending on the response we get from speakers we would like to make a post conference publication. Available to conference attendees either for free or at a very small cost.

4.Delicious food from Mandy who runs an on site café. She is designing a special menu for the conference. You will also have the luxury of buying real coffee for all you flat white and latte addicts.

5.Website. In a departure from previous conferences we will be calling for people to present papers. This will be advertised overseas as well. To allow for easy access to conference details and for the submission of papers we have decided to set up a separate website for the conference. The shell will be ready in the next couple of months and you will be able to go straight to it for updates on the conference.

6.Choice- You will be spoilt for choice with speakers and demonstrations running simultaneously. I am hoping that people will be able to move freely from each lecture/demo.

7.Guests- We have the luxury of having four very diverse overseas guests.(see poster) New Zealand guests have yet to be decided upon.
