Hungry Creek School of Art & Craft offers a one year certificate in Art and Craft which includes ceramics, painting, sculpture, drawing, professional studies and History of Art.
We also offer a three year diploma and students can major in ceramics and one other discipline of their choice.
The students cover glaze technology, design, handbuilding and throwing components.

Ceramics Tutor Position
Pottery Tutor – Part time
Key skills sought: BA or MA in Fine Art or Ceramics. Teaching experience and/or qualification is desirable. Need to have knowledge and technical ability with clay, glazing and kilns.
The pottery tutor is responsible for tutoring pottery to the year one to advanced level students one per week. Classes are all day, 6 hours duration. The mode of delivery is hands on with a balance of theory with regards to technical aspects of pottery forming, glazing and glaze perpetration, firing and critical evaluation of students work. Trips to Galleries and selected exhibitions are approximately once per term depending on what is showing. First year student’s complete assignments on set topics, senior students follow a partially self directed programme. The tutor is responsible for marking and assessing student achievement according to the assessment criteria.
The start date for this position is February 2007.
The Hungry Creek Art and Craft School is a Private Training Establishment offering fulltime qualifications in Art and Jewellery. We have an onsite gallery and offer some weekend and evening classes. The campus is set in 20 acres of native bush at Puhoi. The emphasis is on fine art sensibilities and technical skills, a hands on ethos. The studio practice areas of painting, sculpture, ceramics and jewellery are supported by art history, design, drawing and professional studies for year 3.
