This section of the NZSP website is provided for those wishing to offer themselves for work with a potter in New Zealand.
You may be a New Zealander who would like work experience with a potter or you may be intending to visit New Zealand and would like to offer your services to local potters.
You will be based at the Waikato Society of Potters studio in central Hamilton and coordinate the various studio based activities.
Key responsibilities include:
Organising and implementing the teaching programme
Co-ordinating the various Society activities
Promoting the Society to the public
Running the ceramic studio
Maintaining the office systems, including website
Ideally you will have skills in the following areas:
Be an engaging and confident personality
Have experience in teaching adults
Be familiar with MS Office and Adobe CS3 products
You will know your way around a ceramics studio and be able to fire a range of kilns
Have a practical mind to solve problems
Ideally you have a ceramics qualification
This position is a key role for the Society and the benefits of working in this environment with access to the range of equipment will also further your own ceramic development. The salary package includes a studio space and remuneration is based on experience.
Applications close on 16th February. The successful applicant is expected to be able to start early March.
Wellington Potters Association - Applications for Potter-in-Residence for 2012 - 13
The Wellington Potters’ Association (WPA) has a separate mezzanine studio space for use by a Potter-in Residence. Applications by letter or e-mail are now invited from potters/ceramists at solo exhibition level. Applicants may apply to occupy the studio for terms of one or two years.
The WPA will provide the successful applicant with a year or two years use of the studio at the Wellington Potters’ Centre, 130 Grant Road, Wellington. The period of use will run from 1 January to 31 December 2012 or 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2013 There is no automatic right of renewal. If a two year term is approved, there will be a review conducted on or about the anniversary of the appointment. The outcome of that review will determine whether the appointment will continue for the second year of the term.
