Ballantynes National Tableware Exhibition Postponed for 2011 - Rescheduled for May 2012
Fellow potters
Unfortunately our Ballantynes National Tableware Exhibition has had to be postponed.
The committee has been working hard to finalise all stages of this exhibition, everything is scheduled to receive your work and proceed to the next stage - the receiving and selection. Our serious major hold up is the Canterbury Museum. It is it not yet open for business. They are unable to firmly guarantee us that the museum could be open in time for our Tableware Exhibition on 15 July. This is rather important to us as it was the only available suitable venue in Christchurch. The museum has no other exhibition space later this year as they are fully booked up. There have been other exhibitions that have had to be cancelled.
The committee decided that the best option for the Tableware Exhibition is to postpone it and hold it in May 2012. Mark this in your diaries: selection early May with opening night Thursday 17 May.
News and dates will be coming your way soon.
This does not mean that you can all breath a sigh of relief because you haven’t started on your tableware work (dear me, no) or maybe you have been smart and already completed your work. Just put it aside or plan your work for 2012 as our team will be ready and waiting to accept your work.
We would like to thank all who have continued to support us in planning this exhibition especially the sponsors who have had their business munted.
