Mirek Smisek Awarded Governor General Award
Jennie Shearer reports that Mirek Smisek was the recipient
of the Governor General award a fortnight ago at the N.Z.A.F.A.
This award was started in 1983. There have been 13 recipients.
Three of them potters. Roy Cowan 1986. Doreen Blumhardt 1991.
Mirek Smisek 2003. The Award this year is a sculpture by
Kingsly Baird. A bronze entitled "Pacific Sentinel".
