Born and educated in Holland I came to New Zealand in 1960 and have lived in Christchurch till 2001. Now I live in a small village in North Canterbury.

I started pottery in 1964 adult education classes. Three years later I became one of the founder members of Studio 393, a co-operative of twelve potters and the first of its kind in Christchurch.

I started Courtyard Pottery in 1984 with a partner and have managed that on my own with the help of friends since 1988. The gallery closed after seventeen years and when I moved to Woodend.

My work has been exhibited in selected, invited and one woman shows since 1968.

I became a member of the New Zealand Potters Association the same year. Admission in those days was only by selection of work produced at that time .

My work is represented in many collections, private and public throughout the world as well as in New Zealand, including embassies in Brussels and Tokyo.

My work was selected as presents to Her Majesty Queen Elisabeth and Christchurch's sister city, Kurashiki in Japan.

In 1999 I won an Art Excellence Award, which enabled me to study pottery and travel throughout Australia.

I have been a teacher in pottery for twenty-seven years teaching mainly in adult education classes as well as the teacher training colleges and weekend workshops throughout the South Island. I retired from teaching in 2001

Currently I am immediate past president of the New Zealand Potters Association.I have taken on the job of Treasurer now.

I like the challenge of the clay while working on the wheel, making pots that other people enjoy using

My work is mainly domestic and my main interest is the use of colour form and function.

Most of my work is fired in an electric kiln to stoneware temperature 1270 centigrade.I have for the last year expiremented with Saltglazed and Pitfired w
