I am a sculptor and clay artist born in Guildford England in 1960. I am now a New Zealand citizen, married with 3 children and have lived in Dunedin and Central Otago for 20 years.

While bringing up the family I took many evening classes exploring the arts, painting, textiles and pottery classes. Clay work was a big turning point in my life, the more I played with clay the more I fell in love with it...

I attended a one year craft course at the Dunedin craft Centre in 2000. This inspired me to go to Otago Polytechnic Art School to study Ceramic Arts. I graduated in 2003 with a Diploma in ceramic Arts level 6.

I have a lovely studio set up at home with one gas kiln and two electric kilns.

I enjoy exhibiting work at the Affordable Arts in Auckland and Wellington. I have also organized with the help of the Otago MS Society a National Wobbly Art Exhibition for people with Multiple Sclerosis 3 years in a row. This has been enjoyable and a great success.

I have work exhibited at the Spectrum Gallery Wadestown Wellington and Central Otago.

I still enjoy wheel work but my major passion lies mainly in sculpture. My sculptural work is very personal to me and this is expressed through my work in different ways depending how I am feeling at the time. (I have had MS for 20 years) Coming from a nursing background I have always shown great interest in the human form, inside and out, the physical and the spiritual aspects of life. My work is aimed to unify both of these components together.

My sculpture work is made from white paper clay and fired to 1200 degrees c. I use the coiling technique to form my sculpture as well as some slab work. My recent work displayed in the photos are Raku fired which is a very interesting process and challenging at times but always have some interesting results.

Glazing is also very important to me and I spend a lot of time and thought finding the right glaze to harmonize the sculpture.
