NZSP President's Message To All Competition Entrants
Congratulations to the award winners and to all the students who entered for the competition.
We believe this is the first competition of its type to be held in New Zealand and perhaps in the world.
NZSP hopes to build on this competition in the future and perhaps extend it to the secondary level. In the meantime we would value your feedback as contestants. Please let us know of any problems you had entering and any ways in which you think we might improve the process. Send your comments to Jim Pollard at j.pollard@netaccess.co.nz
NZSP Council has been impressed by the high standard of the work entered. The Council is eager to include committed young ceramicists in its membership, and conscious of the financial constraints that students experience, has approved one year's free membership of the Society to all who entered this year's competition. This offer will be in two forms:
- Those entrants who have completed their qualification this year and are not already full members of the Society, are offered full membership, free of charge for 2006. Entrants must apply for this and include evidence that their qualification has been achieved.
- Those entrants who are not already full members of the Society and who continue with their studies as formally enrolled students in 2006, are offered free student membership of the society for the remainder of that year. Entrants must formally apply for this and provide evidence of enrolment.
Benefits of membership include
- receipt of the bimonthly publication Claynews,
- eligibility to submit work for the Society's national exhibitions,
- access to the Members Only section of the website,
- a free Potters Page on the website and
- membership of local NZSP groups many of whom have exhibitions.
Full membership also carries voting rights at the Society's meetings.
Applications should be made to
Secretary,
New Zealand Society of Potters,
PO Box 31141
CHRISTCHURCH
In the meantime, we would like to send copies of the next two issues of Claynews to you free of charge. To enable us to do this, please send your postal address to our PO Box above.
